Dear All,
In the summer of 2011 a unit of 36 scouts & 4 leaders from Solihull will be taking part in the 22nd World Scout Jamboree to be held in Sweden. This scouting event takes place every 4 years & is bigger than the Olympics in that there are 40,000 participants from all over the globe meeting together on one huge campsite with the common theme of "simply scouting". Those scouts & leaders who have attended a World Scout Jamboree in the past have hailed the event as a life changing experience.

The event is open to 14 - 17 year olds at the time of the jamboree & every scout has the opportunity to apply for a world jamboree only once in their lifetime unless they return as a leader or member of the International Service Team in later years.

All applications for the 2011 Jamboree have now been received & a selection process will take place in the next few weeks to finalise the Solihull unit attending the jamboree.

I am delighted to have been selected as one of the 4 leaders accompanying the 36 scouts to Sweden - it is very exciting & there is much to organise over the next 21 months including an awful lot of fundraising which is where all scouts/families/friends/work colleagues within Solihull can help out WITHOUT IT COSTING A PENNY!

It is fair to say most people shop online these days or at least know of someone who shops online. I have registered the Solihull Jamboree unit with a fundraising website which has links to ALL major high street retailers & online stores including Amazon, play.com,ebay etc.

By registering with this website & using its' links to shop with retailers online (especially with Christmas fast approaching)a percentage of your total spend is donated to the jamboree unit - at no extra cost to yourself! EASY OR WHAT?
